Imbumba Fiesta Launch – KZN

The Imbumba Fiesta had its launch in Glenwood’s Bulwer Park on Saturday 3 February. Imbumba is an isiZulu phrase which means “United together in one harmony”. Features of the day were  a summer themed market, food stalls, info stand and an open mic and sun-downer concert.The Imbumba Fiesta is a project of Pietermaritzburg-based Mzala Nxumalo Centre for the Study of South African Society. Their vision is to create a fun day which brings together families from the neighbourhood, visitors to Glenwood, but more particularly the children, caregivers, staff and host families of the homes in the area including St Martin’s Children’s Home, Durban Children’s Home and iThemba Lethu. The event was hosted by Brithm Productions and supported by the Office of the Premier, eThekwini Municipality, corporate partners, donors, sponsors and community groups.

   

 

 

 

 

ASSITEJ KZN Office collaborated by offering entertainment for the youth and young children, with interactive drumming by China from Ntemb’s Loh Visual Arts. ASSITEJ KZN co-ordinator, Pauline Dalais and Queen Mote from the ASSITEJ KZN Steering Committee Team were on hand at the information stand equipped with information on becoming an ASSITEJ SA member.
