On the 28th of February, I will be leaving for my playwriting residency in Ann Arbor, Michigan. A theatre company by the name Spinning Dot will be staging my play called The Kids From Amandla Street!
Part of my stay there will be taking part in post-show discussions of the play, speaking back to some of the themes as well as engaging in workshops and readings of my latest work.
The play, The Kids From Amandla Street! began a few years back when I took part in ASSITEJ SA’s collaboration with Artscape and the Kennedy centre to develop new work for young audiences, in preparation for the ASSITEJ World Congress which took place in Africa for the first time
in 2017, last year. It was at the Kennedy Centre that Spinning Dot saw the reading of the play and our relationship took off.
I’m looking forward to seeing more incredible American work for young audiences and networking!
